Daniel Ottens studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His graduate thesis “Revealed Comparative Advantage: Afterwards he completed the Master’s programme in Economics at the Tinbergen Institute. After starting his career as an economic analyst at Rabobank, Daniel moved to the Dutch central bank in There he worked at the Monetary and Economic Policy department and the Financial Stability Division, specialising in international economic issues with a special focus on the emerging economies of East Asia.
Daniel has taught international economics at Erasmus University and the University of Amsterdam. He is a co-author of the Study guide for International trade and the world economy. During his studies he worked as a teacher and research assistant in international economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. After his studies he worked as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Finance. He is currently employed by ABP, the second largest pensionfund in the world. He also continues to teach part-time in international internayional, initially at the University econpmics Amsterdam and currently at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
