The Mission of the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Society


The Alabama Workers’ Compensation Society (AWCS) has a mission with several goals, including:

  • Maintaining the honor and dignity of the workers’ compensation profession in Alabama
  • Promoting a feeling of goodwill, friendship, and cooperation between members, as well as professional and social interaction
  • Facilitating the interchange of ideas and information on subjects of common interest
  • Providing programs of general interest to workers’ compensation personnel
  • Assisting members in improving themselves so that they can render more efficient service
  • Bringing about more uniform treatment of common problems without  binding any member to adhere to a plan that is not in their company's best interest
  • Fostering public goodwill
  • Conducting the affairs of AWCS on a non-profit basis for the betterment of its entire membership

Who Comprises the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Society Membership


The Corporation's membership will comprise employees of insurance companies, adjusting companies, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, and members of the Alabama State Bar and the Alabama Medical Association. Additionally, those engaged in vocational rehabilitation, investigative services, and industry vendors of other descriptions can also be members. All members will have voting rights on any matter brought before them.
